With so many decisions to make about your new business, you’re too overwhelmed to make a decision.

Well, I wish I could say you’re in good company here, but the truth is you’re not. You’re still at square one with all the other newbs who cry because they can’t decide how to work on their site.

Let me make it easy for you: PICK SOMETHING AND DO IT! That’s all there is to it, really.

In case you’re still having trouble, here are some basic steps to get you started:

1. Pick a niche
2. Design a site
3. Monetize with ads or products
4. Get traffic

That’s it.

Slowly slowly

It can seem complicated, but that’s just because you’re still in the beginning stages of your internet marketing education.

Once you “break the seal” of taking action, you’ll find that its easier for you to work on your venture than for you to NOT work on it!

The point is this: Nobody ever made any money in ANYTHING by reading articles, watching YouTube videos and playing on Facebook.

However, if you make this minor change in your mindset, you can use the above mentioned media to make some money.

Instead of consuming so much, why don’t you create something? It doesn’t need to be perfect. Heck, it doesn’t even need to be good! Just put something to buy on the page and get people in front of it.

Do that and you’ll get leads, make sales and get referrals.

Do that and you’ve won 99% of the battle.

You can format everything later

Your main focus should be flooding the web with YOUR VOICE. Use Twitter.

Get ready, because I’m about to tell you the secret to getting traffic with Twitter: All you have to do is tweet more about your niche or industry.

For instance, if your niche was a site on internet marketing systems, you WOULD release tweets with your niche topics in them! Its that simple.

Because of its immediate nature, Twitter is often used (mistakenly) as a glorified status update mechanism.

How not to use Twitter

Face it, tweeting about the type of toast you had for breakfast today isn’t going to cause anyone a desire to check out your website.

For those of you who have a site dedicated to eating toast, ignore this. But for the REST OF YOU, keyword targeted tweets will work much better.

Ideally, you will have chosen a niche or industry in which you are active on a daily basis. By simply tweeting about what YOU are doing in your niche, you will get more followers and visitors to your site.

Oh, I might have forgotten to mention to include a link to your site in your tweets!

It goes without saying, but I forget sometimes that I was new to online marketing once.

Anyway, back to the topic. I don’t mean to imply that you ONLY release tweets with links in them. If you do this, you might get the reputation of being a shameless self promoter as opposed to a respected authority.

Both strategies lead to more sales. And who knows, you might even get a referral! (Make sure you ask for it!)

What is better in the long run is anybody’s guess, but don’t feel like you can ONLY tweet about something if you’ve got a fresh link to post.

If you’re working on something in your niche, a set of articles or ebook for instance, I highly recommend that you tweet about it!

Its worth saying that when you create a product, design it with the purpose in mind of using it to promote your current business. Even if you have to give it away for free, it will be worth it if it helps you promote your site.

This can be hard for newbies to wrap their mind around. Giving away a product of value for free goes against our common sense. If we give it away, how will we profit directly from it?

Well, you won’t. But the positive press you generate when you give away quality, buzz-worthy educational products is worth far more than the profit generated from a single (or many!) sales.
